Non-rising Stem Valve

Non-rising stem (NRS) valves are developed as zone control and shut-off valves for fire protection systems. They serve as an alternative to supervised butterfly valves and OS&Y rising stem gate valves, particularly in underground pipeline applications.

These valves are specifically designed for use in buried piping systems exposed to freezing risk in outdoor environments. As a result, they provide reliable isolation and control without being affected by external environmental conditions.

Since valve position visibility and monitoring are critical requirements in fire protection systems, NRS valves are typically operated with a post indicator (wrench-type actuator) instead of a handwheel. This allows both mechanical operation and position monitoring through an integrated key or indicator system.

Non-rising stem valves are suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications, with particular effectiveness in underground fire protection networks where durability and reliability are essential.
